The King Escalope

Martyn Walker, Founder of The King Escalope and The King Kitchen

The King Escalope was formed in 1996 by Martyn Walker, after taking over a close friend's existing business which had been supplying cooked foods to a few independent sandwich bars. The business rapidly grew, and after our Head Chef, Bridge, joined in 2000, the company extended to supplying a wide range of food outlets including pubs, bars and retail outlets.

Although chicken escalopes remain the bedrock of the business, we offer a full and varied range of cooked ready meals.

In 2016 The King Escalope took over its main competitor and moved into a purpose built commercial food production kitchen, which now employs over 20 staff, most of whom have been with the company over five years.

Salsa Accreditation

The Salsa accreditation which was awarded soon afterwards meant that we could expand the growing number of wholesale food distributors and food outlet groups that we have supplied over the past twenty years, giving prospective customers the assurance of the highest accreditation The King Escalope can achieve.

We are proud to have served our customers, past and present, including: JJ's Food Service; Food Republic; Coco di Mama, Patisserie Valarie, Kentas, Plaza Premium Lounges at Heathrow, Nila, POD, Cafe Deli, Wenzels, James Burden as well as over 200 independent sandwich bars, pubs and food outlets.

The King Kitchen

The King Kitchen was formed as part of the King Escalope to cater specifically for the wholesale side of the business which continues to grow. Martyn's wife, Mary, has joined the King Kitchen after a lengthy career in Food & Beverage sales and is heading up the King Kitchen Wholesale. Mary is also looking to expand into the Residential, Nursing and Care Home market.

What makes us different

The King Kitchen philosophy is to prepare home-cooked food in commercial quantities that align with its Homestyle Promise: that all products are made using fresh ingredients, no preservatives or additives are used therefore all foods can be portioned and frozen if needed.

The kitchen is an approved premises, with an EU accreditation which means the customer knows that the process of producing the cooked foods has gone through very strict food safety procedures so that quality is assured. The King Kitchen is one of the only wholesale catering companies to hold this accreditation in the London area.
